The Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers (CSR-BC) were adopted in December 2005 and came into force on 1 April, 2006. It was an important step in the development of maritime rules. For the first time, comprehensive structural rules have been unified across the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) combining the knowledge, vast experience, latest practical and technical knowledge, and the state of-the-art technology embodied by its members.
The rules were developed with the aim of providing more transparency.
