Energy demand and pollutants growth are the main concerns due to the increasing population and urbanization. Indeed, modern society significantly depends on energy availability. The transport sector plays a crucial role in energy consumption and CO2 production. In this regard, the application of cleaner fuels provides a practical alternative toward full decarbonization by 2050. The most common renewable fuels are discussed, and their main effects are assessed.
