Today’s world is facing problems arising from excessive fossil fuel consumption. Fossil fuel consumption has increased the concentration of greenhouse gasses (GHG) in the atmosphere over the years. In fact, the concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxides have exceeded the pre-industrial levels respectively by about 40%, 150%, and 20%, due to human activities(IPCC 2014). Meanwhile, the energy demand and energy consumption of the world has drastically increased in recent years. In 2018, global energy consumption increased by 2.9% and the power sector’s contribution of carbon emissions increased by 2.7% in 2018(BP 2019).
