This book is intended to be used by seaworthy cruising yachts, sail or power, with a draught of less than 2m. On the Northumberland coast several inshore natural havens and drying harbours which can be visited by small open boats, are detailed in the RNYC Sailing Directions and Henry Irving's Forth, Tyne, Dogger, Humber (Imray). Likewise the Firth of Forth and the Grampian coast are described in the FYCA Handbook. In the Moray Firth, and further north, however, those harbours which could be used by small yachts have been included here.
