Upgrading boat's interior

A few years ago, a group of fellow enthusiasts and I started a boat magazine (the first new boat magazine in Sweden for over 20 years), with the aim of describing a range of practical projects, from tinkering with boat engines to making your own cabin cushions.
The special themed issues on boat interiors proved very popular, particularly the sections that were not just glossy 'at-home-with' articles, but demonstrated ways of improving your own boat.
When we first started gathering material for the articles, the various craftsmen were reluctant to reveal their trade secrets in our magazine -but they soon found themselves receiving more commissions, since not all boat owners wanted to carry out the work themselves, either because of lack of time or the belief that they do not possess the skills to do it.
And even those readers who didn't carry out their own improvement projects found it useful to know how it is done - it helped them to ask the right questions and to place a more coherent order. Quite simply, they became better customers, albeit more demanding!
My aim with this book is to show how you can make your boat more practical and at the same time more comfortable. This is a subject that appeals to me, since I spend a lot of time on boats. I have to admit that, with age, comfort becomes a higher priority. Camping in boats has its charm, but these days I enjoy mod cons such as a fridge and comfortable berths, even when moored in a far-away natural harbour.
